The first soldiers to arrive on Khalil Bashir`s doorstep in Gaza five years ago explained the new geography of his home in terms he understood only too well. His three-storey house was to be like the West Bank, the "Israeli" officer said, with its areas of divided security and administrative control....

Electronicintifada, 13-6-2005. |
|
In the occupied Palestinian territories (OPT), a collaborator is understood as any Palestinian who cooperates with the "Israeli" security forces in the OPT or in "Israel". Recruiting Palestinians as collaborators is perceived in the OPT as part of "Israel`s" policy to maintain control over the territory and the Palestinian people. Most cases of collaboration are found in interrogation centers and prisons where detainees are put under extreme physical and mental pressure to collaborate. Palestinian children often find themselves under such pressure. ...

My Name Is Rachel Corrie- A non-violent resistance activist - Killed by "Israeli" Army in Gaza Reborn in English Theatre

The Electronic Intifada, 11-10-2005. |
|
When our daughter Rachel Corrie was killed by an "Israeli" bulldozer in the Gaza strip on March 16 2003, an immediate impulse was to get her words out to the world. She had been working in Rafah with a nonviolent resistance organisation, the International Solidarity Movement, trying to stop the demolition of Palestinian homes and wells. Her emails home had had a powerful impact on our family, making us think about the situation in the Middle East in ways we had never done before. Without a direct connection to "Israel" and Palestine, we had not understood the devastating nature of the Palestinians` situation. Coming from the US, our allegiance and empathy had always been with the people of "Israel"....

The Miserable Occupation On A Miserable Morning... “Israeli” Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD)
Hits: 538 |
|
ICAHD, 21-11-2005. |
|
Yesterday, the “Israeli” Committee Against House Demolition (ICAHD) received information that the “Israeli” government was planning on demolishing houses in Anata, Beit Hanina and Silwan. Although the demolition of Palestinian homes was supposed to end with the first phase of the Road Map, “Israel” insists disingenuously that we are only in a "pre-Road Map" phase - even though the Road Map was initiated in mid-2003. This means, in “Israel’s” interpretation, that the Palestinians must carry out all their responsibilities under Phase 1 and even Phase 2 (reform the Palestinian Authority, end violence, etc.), while “Israel” is free to pursue its goals of strengthening its hold on the Occupied Territories without any interference whatsoever - a clear violation of the principle of "mutuality" that underlies the Road Map Process....
